We’re in an Era of Celebrity. So much craze for stardom. In a recent article (September 10th 2009) “Hey, aren’t you … ?” in “The Age”, a prominent mainstream newspaper in Melbourne, Australia, there are some insider comments from various Australian celebrities:
- “You have no private life. You never know who’s genuine. And people develop an idea of you from the box that bears no relation to reality.”
- ”Fame can be created in a nanosecond. But because it is so instantly producible, it’s also really disposable… it’s a false sense of worth.”
- “Twittering, Facebook, people no longer feel like their lives are a valued thing unless there’s reportage. And I find that a tragic thing. There’s this spiritual chasm, that people don’t have a sense of their own importance unless they’re being talked about.”
- “But I’d rather have them talk about me than not. It’s like currency, isn’t it?”
- “I would prefer not to be spoken about than spoken about in inaccurate ways. Because your very personality becomes out of your hands.”
And this is why in my Birthday Numeroscope, I dare say that readers quite often might find my comment does not quite match up with their perception of the celebrities cited.
Check it out yourself there :))
