Hi John,
I agree with steve that many beliefs are culturally based and influenced by the cultures in which they take root. Take Zen for example. Chinese Zen is a synthesis of Taoism and Buddhism and Japanese a synthesis of Shintoism and Buddhism. But like someone else said, it doesn’t matter if the belief is scientifically “real” and quantifiable or just a placebo. It is the end result that is important. By the way, my birthday is January 1st, 1969. I’m curious what you can discern from that. I’ll stay tuned for your response!
