It is inevitable to talk about free will & destiny when we delve into numerology as a way to understand ourselves and our life. Destiny is based on The Law of Karma, which is simply action and reaction. Pretty clean cut and yet mysterious.
There are three types of karma or destiny, each with their proper scriptural names which I forget. So let us call it as type A, B and C :
A. The karma that one has to go through in this life time;
B. The karma that is in store in our central nerve located at the center of the spinal column at our back, which we will go through in future life times;
C. The karma that we are creating with our actions right now in response to type A karma. Only some fruits of this type of karma will be borne by us in this very life time, the balance will happen in our future lives, be it in Hades, hell, heaven, or on earth.
From the type A karma, whatever comes, comes; whatever goes, goes.
Whenever something happens spontaneously, without our conscious invocation belongs to this type. It’s our own forgetfulness of our own previous actions in another life time that makes us wonder why certain things happen so naturally without asking for them. That’s why people are born with talents, disabilities, wealth or poverty.
From the type B karma, we have subtle evidence of what we’ve done in our previous lives and yet we can still have a chance to burn them all up with the fire of yoga through chanting and meditation. These fruits, this kind of destiny, still have not yet come true in this life time but will emerge in a future life time.
From the type C karma, we have the use of free will. From this, we can say life is a matter of choices. We might not be able to control what happens around us, but we can control HOW we respond to all situations. It also explains why some notorious people seem to get away with evil actions they have done.
Now, tell me how do these three types of karma affecting you?

That was an education on karma for me. It is the first time I’ve had karma and the 3 different types of karma explained to me. The A type seems to be the circumstances we find ourselves in. The B type of karma seems to refer to what is termed the “after life”, or where we wind up after our time here on earth is complete. The C type of karma appears to refer to cause and effect. There’s an essay that Emerson wrote — I think it’s called Compensation — that type C reminds me of.

I am a big believer in Karma and try to live my life generating “good” karma and avoiding “Bad” Karma. I never knew you could parse Karma into three parts. Sounds a little suspicious to me but what do I know?
