Thanks for all the compliments & encouragement!
That brings me to talk about my personal branding.
April Braswell, our beloved Boomer Dating Expert, Relationship Success Coach and Fred Gleeck both recently talked about personal branding. While I am talking about integrity and ethics, I may as well declare mine is based on:
- Ethics
- Enthusiasm and
- Tenacity
Ethics is not only being true to yourself and having a high moral ground, but also doing your best to deliver the best value to your clients.
There is a subtle difference between being honesty & ethical. You can be honest but not ethical. When I said, “Truth may hurt but lies hurt more in the end”, I didn’t mean to say the truth for the sake of being truthful. We need to deliver the message in the right intensity and at appropriate angles for the personality under analyzed. Some are way more sensitive than others, more visual or more mentally alert. I need to adjust my delivery based on individual case. As Confucius said, “Teach according to the individual person’s abilities and characters.”
Enthusiasm, without ethics, endangers others for selfish gains.
Tenacity, without clear thinking, will simply bump one’s head against the brick wall continuously with futile efforts and focus.
It’s good to use humor to deliver messages, especially the unpleasant ones to make the recipients more receptive and acts on those pointers. We only need to look at the “negatives” a bit harder to bring out the positive side of them. For example, someone who is wordy can capitalize on their long windedness into writing great sales copy, provided s/he gives multiple points for impulsive or decisive buyers to do the transaction, starting from from the top of the sales copy! Successful sales copy in internet based business is unusually long as we need to leave no stone unturned to make it unnecessary for anyone to call for missing details. We need to cater for all types of buyers on the other end.
In doing personality profiles, all we can do is to sow the seeds and provide guidance for the right directions to pursue. We can be the catalysts but NOT the doers. The responsibility to act rests on our clients.
Duane Cunningham’s comment, “Love your integrity….but you need to be able to ‘market’ with the best of them if you got into this to make money!” Yes, I need to remind myself constantly on this. It would be the best while we help others, we can also help ourselves. This can be done & takes time to find the appropriate balance.
Any idea how to replace “tenacity” with a word starts with a “E” so that I can make a triple “E”s for personal branding?

Honesty, ethics and integrity are important to long term viability in business. At the same time you need to market and convince people to buy your products and services. Every now and then you need to “stretch the truth” in order to act in the customers best interest.
Sell them what they think they want and give them what they need. People want magic and ease instead of hard work and long hours. We need to communicate the truth of what we are selling in favorable terms so people will buy it.

Steve summed it up very well. Confucious did as well. You need to hit people in a way that will affect them without being full of shit. Giving them what they need while making it look and sound like what they want will work in the end because they will be happy with what they got and realize you are smarter than them on some level.
One of my mentors sold some valuable ideas to me but packaged them as what I wanted. In the end I realized what I needed and wanted were different. Why not do that in some way with your hard sells.

I’m sure some of these wordsmiths can come up with an “E” word for tenacious. This country bumpkin didn’t get that far in school

The numerology expert raises a great point. One can be honest, but not ethical. It’s good to contemplate the differences.

Hi John,
Steve said it best “people want a magic bullet” to take away the pain and frustration and they want it right now…you must be true to yourself and always act in the best interests of those you serve but if you truly believe that what you have will enhance the life of the other person you must do what it takes to succeed

John,
Hmm. I can’t think of a word that begins with “e” that is a synonym for tenacity. It will be interesting to see what you come up with for your personal brand.

Hi JOhn,
thank you so much for the plug and also for making that connection. I’m glad to see how your reading my blog on dating and relationships (including business and bereavement/grief) has inspired your own excellent numerology teaching blog here.
